Welcome to St John Vianney's Catholic Primary School

St John Vianney's Catholic Primary School

St John Vianney’s is a co-educational Catholic primary school (Prep – Year 6) with a current enrolment of 420 students.

We are located in Brisbane’s Eastern suburbs, on a hill above Manly Village and harbour with panoramic views of Moreton Bay and the Bay Islands .

St John Vianney’s is an energetic school community where staff, parents and students work collaboratively to develop a cohesive approach to education. Key features include an awareness of social justice issues and environmental sustainability. Some distinctive curriculum offerings include ICLT, LOTE (Italian), Music and Arts programs (Visual or Dramatic Arts), Instrumental Music and Leadership Program.

We have well maintained facilities with a modern Library and Prep classrooms. A new school hall was opened in 2011 and new classrooms were built in 2015. The playground was redeveloped to become a lovely space in 2016. Our grounds and play areas are shaded, well equipped and maintained.

We invite you to contact us for further information.

Sport Newshttp://www.sjv.qld.edu.au/news-events/Pages/Sport-News.aspxSport News
SJV Inter-House Cross Country Carnival - This is the final week of preparations for the SJV Inter-House Cross Country Carnival scheduled for Tuesday 20th March at Wynnum Memorial Park. I would encourage all parents to read the information letter carefully for the details of the event. Of particular importance, is the requirement for all students to be in attendance for the whole day and remain at the park until the final presentations are completed (approx. 2.00pm). Parents are very welcome to take their children home after the final presentations when the classroom teacher has been notified. Please be mindful that if the day is looking to be ‘wet’, it is recommended that students wear their school regulation tracksuit jacket which has some waterproofing, rather than the school jumper.

Bayside Catholic Inter-School Swimming Carnival - Nominations have been finalised for the Bayside District Catholic Swimming Carnival scheduled for Friday 23rd March at Cleveland Aquatic Centre. The Information Letter and Consent/Medical Forms have been sent home. Students will be advised of individual events this week. Please be mindful that the actual time for events is not available, however, the order of events is briefly as follows: Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke, Butterfly with 50m Freestyle relays at the end of the program. The carnival is expected to finish about 1:30pm to allow buses to transport students back to their respective schools prior to 3:00pm.

Queensland State Swimming Titles - On behalf of the whole SJV community, I would like to wish Ava all the very best of success at the State Swimming Titles next Tuesday. Ava is representing the South-East Region and now seeks selection to represent Queensland. This is indeed an amazing achievement! Good luck, Ava.

The Coles Sports for Schools program is back for 2018. During the Sports For Schools program, families will be able to collect Coles Sports for Schools vouchers for our school from Coles stores. When the program ends, schools can exchange those vouchers towards sporting equipment to encourage all kids to get healthy and active at school. We have a box for the vouchers placed at Coles Wynnum Central and another box in the school office.

SJV Memories - the Video!
In 2016, St John Vianney's Primary School celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the school's opening in 1941. Some of the original students gathered for a chat and to share their stories about those early years. Click on the video player above to view.
