Principal's Welcomehttp://www.sjv.qld.edu.au/About%20Our%20School/Pages/Principal%27s-Welcome.aspx, Principal's WelcomePrincipal's WelcomeOn behalf of the St John Vianney's school community I warmly welcome you to our school. We have a wonderful partnership with our Parish Priest, Fr Frank Jones and the Parish of St John Vianney's. The ministry of education is one that is shared between parents, teachers and the wider community. As Principal, I will support you in nurturing and promoting the growth of our children as we reflect the life and mission of Jesus, promoting a vibrant spiritual life through learning, prayer and liturgy. My commitment to Catholic Education is lived out through my active involvement in Parish and school life and living out the Gospel values through our words and actions. I have a passion for living out the work of Nano Nagle by working with the poor and marginalised.
Learning and Teachinghttp://www.sjv.qld.edu.au/Curriculum/Pages/default.aspx, Learning and TeachingLearning and TeachingCentral to curriculum planning at St John Vianney’s Primary School is the Brisbane Catholic Education Learning Framework which sets out the beliefs and values on which learning is based. We educate all to live the gospel of Jesus Christ as successful, creative and confident, active and informed learners empowered to shape and enrich our changing world.

Library Newshttp://www.sjv.qld.edu.au/news-events/Pages/Library-News.aspxLibrary News
Welcome back to term 4 in the library. I am looking forward to hearing some book commercials from year 5 and 6 this term; a minute blurb on a great book they have read. My commercial is for Emily Rodda’s new and mysterious book His Name was Walter. The book has so many layers, it had me reading non stop - with a few tears along the way! It’s one that mature readers are sure to love.

New to our shelves: The Guinness Book of World Records 2019, Bad Guys episode 8, and Anh Do’s Ninja Kid 2, with the tale of Nelson continuing. All are sure to be popular and not on the shelf for long. Added to the Little People, Big Dreams series is the inspiring story of Mother Teresa, one that is perfect for our littlest SJV children.

Things are in full swing in the library as children commenced borrowing and library lessons this week. Please assist and challenge your child to be responsible for their library returns this term. Remind your child to count their books as they put them into their library bag, to ensure they have them all. Being term 4, this routine is well established and library days remain unchanged from last term. Each week, ch ildren with overdues are given an overdue slip to assist them in locating their book/s. If there is a book outstanding or lost from last term please contact the library as soon as possible. We want all children borrowing new books each week to establish a good reading habit. Remember, our aim is to read every day.

Book Club recommences this term, catalogues went out this week and will close on Friday 19 October.
