Library Newshttp://www.sjv.qld.edu.au/news-events/Pages/Library-News.aspxLibrary News
Last Thursday was the Reader’s Cup Competition for the Bayside area, where 19 schools competed in a reading competition. Students were required to read 5 set books and then had to answer questions on each book, racing against the clock. Held at Manly State School, with guest author Megan Forward, pictured below with our team, it was an exciting afternoon, seeing Cleveland State School the overall winners. Congratulations to our team on their wonderful achievement!
This week was the last borrowing for the term and children now have their holiday reading. In week 11 the library will be closed for painting. Borrowing will recommence in week 1 so please remind your child to come prepared with their books. Thank you to those parents who have replaced missing books. For those with overdues, please get them back week 1.
As the term finishes we are eagerly planning for Term 3. For new parents to SJV the highly anticipated Book Week is in week 6 and the Book Fair in week 7. There will be no Book Club during Term 3. The Book Week theme this year is Find Your Treasure, so start looking and what better place to start than reading a book!

Please ensure that you write your child's name and class on the front of the sponsorship card, sorry we forgot to leave a space for it. Please also ensure that you have updated your child's class on Qkr! or another class might win the pizza party. Sport Newshttp://www.sjv.qld.edu.au/news-events/Pages/Sport-News.aspxSport News
Senior Track and Field Carnival - Congratulations to all the students who participated so spiritedly at the Senior Track and Field Carnival this week. Your behaviour was also exemplary. Well done! I would like to sincerely thank all the staff and parent volunteers who helped in setting up and officiating on the day. Thank you also to Iona College for the use of their facilities and support staff. We look forward to strengthening the Catholic relationship between both schools in the future. Thank you to the P&F also who kept the adults 'well hydrated' in organising a coffee van. Aggregate points and Age Champions will be published next week. This carnival officially concludes the SJV Inter-House Carnivals for 2018. Bayside District and Catholic Track & Field Carnivals are scheduled for Term 3 with Gala Days for Year 5 and Year 6 students continuing into Term 4.

Thank you for your continued support of ‘all things sport’ at SJV.

SJV Memories - the Video!
In 2016, St John Vianney's Primary School celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the school's opening in 1941. Some of the original students gathered for a chat and to share their stories about those early years. Click on the video player above to view.
