This week I had the absolute privilege of joining our three
STEM MAD team finalists at the Brisbane Catholic Education Showcase with Mrs Horn and
Mrs Harris. There were over 120 entries and approximately 70 schools participating. It is a
significant event with two young innovators Scott Millar and Dr Jordan Nguyen as guest
speakers who were truly inspirational. I encourage you to have a look at their work online
as it was exciting and inspiring to listen to and a great example that anything is possible. I
have heard Jordan speak twice now and still had tears in my eyes with his inspiring work
that is remarkable and making a difference to the lives of others. Scott is a hard working
and motivating innovator and they both shared a similar message to just have a go and get
started! All students in Years 5 & 6 worked on a real-world problem for STEM MAD as a rich
learning experience that was highly engaging and involved a high level of skill, knowledge
and innovation. We look forward to participating again next year.
