Reconciliation Action Plan

One of our Annual School Goals is to develop and implement a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for our school. A RAP is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation. It focuses on engaging all students, staff and members of our community with the importance of reconciliation, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.

It is essential to highlight the place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia’s reconciliation journey, and explicitly point to the significance of recognising and respecting the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians as part of our shared national story and identity.

Through our RAP, St John Vianney’s aims to contribute to reconciliation by:

  • building and encouraging relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, organisations, and the broader Australian community

  • fostering and embedding respect for the world’s longest surviving cultures and communities.
